About Purple Hippo Photography.

Behind the lens

My name is Janet Chrysakis (Chrys for short). I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years, specializing in family photography

I am a art director and photographer. I love anything that has to do with art and music. Love to travel, paint, sing, play guitar, learn new skills, and enjoy life. Photography is my passion and it shows in my work.

I became a little obsessed with photography in collage, I minored at it at University of North Florida. (before digital cameras) After graduating, I began working as a photographer doing weddings. After having children I couldn’t put the camera down. As I watch my daughters change daily I am reminded of the importance of seizing each milestone in their lives. I am driven by my passion to take captivating photos of my daughters.

I love photography because it gives me new eyes. With every lens I have It makes me view the world differently. I love the feeling that you get when viewing a beautiful image. A photograph is like a message that the photographer is creating. It is looking at the image, and not just seeing the subject, but the entire image as a whole piece. Being able to appreciate, have an emotional connection to, and relate to an image because it moves you.

The Right Fit

Choosing a photographer is tough, especially with so many options to choose from. Here is a list of what makes me different.

  • Equipment

I primarily shoot with Cannon Mark III and a wide array of Canon Lenses. I always bring backups…and backups for my backups, in the rare event that anything should happen to a piece of equipment.

  • Experience

I studied photography in the University of North Florida. I have been shooting professionally for over 10 years.

  • Personable

Becoming a wife and a mother of two allows me to develop a special bond with couples, children, and their families. I understand that most people are nervous about being in front of a camera. (including myself) My goal is to make you feel comfortable so that the real you shines through. For weddings I even offer a free mini engagement session before your wedding day as a icebreaker to get comfortable in front of the camera and for us to get to know one another. Feeling comfortable is key. SKILLS Having a degree in Graphic design and a Minor in Photography does has it’s advantages. CANNON MARK III100%
